Terms of service
Last updated: May 5, 2026
1. Acceptance
By accessing wellwatchdata.com or subscribing to The Brief, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
WellWatchData publishes intelligence on orphan-well remediation, plug-and-abandonment contracts, and federal remediation funding. The information is gathered from public-record sources and presented for editorial purposes. We make no warranty as to fitness for a particular purpose; verify any data point against the originating source agency before making business decisions.
3. Acceptable use
- Don't scrape, mirror, or republish the site at scale. Light per-page reuse with attribution is fine.
- Don't use the service to harass any operator, contractor, or individual named in the data.
- Don't reverse-engineer paywalled content (CSV exports, alerts, full newsletter) and redistribute it.
- Don't attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other security controls.
4. Subscriptions and billing
The Brief is billed monthly through Stripe at the price displayed on the upgrade page. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are available within 14 days of any charge — email billing@wellwatchdata.com.
5. Editorial independence and disclaimers
Operator names, well names, and other identifiers reproduced on this site come from public regulatory records. A high orphan-well count does not constitute an accusation; wells are inherited by state regulators from operators that may be dissolved, sold, bankrupt, or simply gone. WellWatchData makes no claim of fault and provides factual republishing only.
Content is provided AS IS. We disclaim all warranties express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WellWatchData's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
7. Intellectual property
The site's structure, design, editorial copy, and trademarks are owned by WellWatchData. Underlying public data attributed to state and federal agencies remains in the public record. You may quote editorial content with attribution and a link.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the service for violation of these terms or for abuse of the system. You may terminate your account at any time from your account page.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
